"I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I started to gain weight as a teenager, lost it, then gained it back as a young adult. I gained after I got married and after both of my daughters were born. I tried a lot of different diets and a few different exercise routines that worked for a short time, but never long term. In December 2010, I lost my Dad suddenly and within a year, I reached my highest weight ever. I gained more than I did with both of my pregnancies. I had no motivation to make a change until 5 years after my Dad passed away. I was approaching my 40th birthday and really wanted to be healthy. A good friend of mine helped me with my eating habit and encouraged me to exercise. I worked on my eating habits but still had no motivation to work out. I don't like big gyms with a lot of equipment and I never felt like doing a video at home or even going for a walk. I lost a little bit of weight just by eating healthier than I had been. It took me almost a year to lose 20 pounds. In June 2016, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I lost another 15-20 pounds from eating a gluten free diet. A year later, I decided that I was ready to start exercising but wanted to find a place where I would be comfortable. I saw an MJ Fitness ad on facebook for classes that sounded like what I was looking for. I sent a message to MJ and tried his Strikefit and Bootcamp in Oct 2017. I love the classes at MJ Fitness! Every class is a full body workout and no two classes are the same. MJ is an excellent trainer. His positive attitude and knowledge are refreshing. There is never judgement or pressure. He meets you where you are, at your fitness level. His encouragement and support are beyond expectation. He knows when and how to push to get you to the next step and that has made all the difference for me on my journey. I have also made new friends that have encouraged me and have kept me motivated. In one year at MJ Fitness, I have lost a little more than 15 pounds and I am in better shape than I think I've ever been. I feel so much better not only physically, but mentally. I have more energy and I can be active without losing my breath in 5 minutes. I have gained confidence and physical strength that I didn't have before. I would not be where I am today without his help. It has taken me 3 years to lose 50 pounds, and I have more to lose, but I know that it will never come back because I have the motivation to keep it off."
